| SWIMMING & DIVING TEAM OPENS SEASON |
Chicago, IL - October 20, 2006
Junior Liz Wong and Sophomore Andrew Mehr lead the way for the
Scarlet Hawk swim team on Friday as the squad traveled to the
University of Chicago for a dual meet. Wong anchored the winning 200
Medley relay and then came back for individual wins in the 50
Freestyle (25.31) and the 100 Freestyle (55.57). Andrew Mehr was
part of the 2nd place 200 Free Relay while contributing wins in the
50 Freestyle (21.89) and the 100 Freestyle (48.64). Other event
winners included Julia Northrop (1M and 3M diving), Branden Toro (1M
and 3M diving), Lesli Traub (100 Fly), Ryan Feuerstein (100 Fly), and
Marina Hartung (100 Breaststroke).

The Illinois Tech Swimming & Diving teams won 10 events over the
weekend at the University of Chicago Invite. Ryan Feuerstein (100
Fly, 200 Fly) and Branden Toro (1M Diving, 3M Diving) led the Scarlet
Hawks with two wins each. Other event winners included Nicolle
Mallinger (200 IM), Amanda Babicz (500 Free), Liz Wong (50 Free),
Julia Northrop (1M Diving) and Andrew Mehr (100 Free). The relay
team of Babicz, Marina Hartung, Lesli Traub, and Wong combined to win
the women's 400 Medley Relay for the lone relay win of the meet for
the Hawks. The team also took another step towards improving on last
year's top 5 finishes at the NAIA National Meet by increasing the
number of qualifiers to 13 individuals in 35 individual events and
all 10 relays
