In his role as head coach for the Scarlet Hawks, Steve Born definitely has an inside perspective. As a four-year letterman at Illinois Tech, Born both caught and served as a designated hitter for the Hawks. Following his playing tenure, Born was named an assistant coach in 2005. Born's coaching experience also includes working with the Bulls/Sox Academy as a hitting instructor since 1999. Steve currently resides in Oak Lawn.
Also a native Hawk, Jose Medina played two years for Illinois Tech where he enjoyed a tremendously successful pitching career averaging six strike outs per game and posting a team low ERA as well. Jose is from Chicago, Illinois where he played for Curry High School on the varsity baseball team for four years. Medina began his college career at Moraine Valley Community College and also played summer ball in Mexico in 2005 and 2006.
